unexpected surprise

A little over a week ago, I went to the doctor just to get a check-up and I found out that I had high blood pressure. I was shocked because my blood pressure has always been perfect and I just had a check-up with blood work in January and everything was great. Well, when I started to look back on the past 9 months I realized that things have been crazy...broken ankle, surgery, wedding planning, getting married, moving and starting a new and very stressful job. I am sure that some of these have played a huge factor. So, I came home last night and Darrin had bought us a BP monitor. What a sweet husband he is...always looking out for us. Hopefully, with a change in diet, some exercising and being faithful about taking daily vitamins I can get this under control. Wish me luck!
(I wish this was my blood pressure number!)

That was very sweet of Darrin!! Those thoughtful little things are what makes a marriage so fun. Good luck with your blood pressure...you have been through a crazy year I am sure you will get it back in check.

i think a trip to the spa {provided free of charge by your board} is just what you need to get your blood pressure down....what do you think?

Okay, daughter, this is an order: YOU TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF and do everything possible to get your health in order. High blood pressure is serious business and your family history is NOT on your side. Do whatever it takes because we love you -- as do many others!

Bless you,
Mom & Dad

My advice is the DASH eating plan (dietary approaches to stop hypertension)...just a way of eating to include more of the most beneficial foods which reduce blood pressure (fruits & vegs 8-12 servings a day!)and more. It is very well researched by the National Institutes of Health and American Heart Association with proven successes in people in the research studies. http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/public/heart/hbp/dash/new_dash.pdf

Thank you all for your great advise! We are workin' on it but I think maybe a better diet, some exercise and several spa days a month (paid by my board of course) should do the trick!

You know.....pregnancy naturally lowers blood pressure, too. Just wanted to point that out!
